Janoris Jenkins Jersey , Zak DeOssie Some things are more important than football. For instance, New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard became a father over the weekend. Shepard and his wife, Chanel Iman, welcomed their daughter, Cali Clay Shepard, into the world Friday morning. Unsurprisingly, questions about routes in practice pale before the birth of a child, and that was the focus of Shepard’s time with the media after practice on Monday.Perfect timingShepard said after practice that the timing of the birth wasn’t as expected, but turned out to be absolutely perfect.“I was thinking it was going to happen on that game day but we woke up the next morning, she (Shepard’s wife Chanel) stood up, her water broke, and we went right to the hospital. She did great, I was there every step of the way. It was pretty graphic, but it was good. She did a great job. Our moms were there, our families were there, everything went perfect.”Shepard added, “They didn’t do much on Friday either, so it was perfect timing. She’s a very considerate baby, she came out right on time. It was nine days earlier than what it was supposed to be.”Advice from the vetsOne of Shepard’s newest teammates, Saquon Barkley went through the same thing Kerry Wynn Jersey , with the birth of his own daughter just two days before the 2018 NFL Draft. Shepard was asked if his fellow new dad had any advice for him. “No,” Shepard said, “he didn’t give me any tips. He’s a brand new dad just like me so we’re trying to figure it out together. Eli (Manning) and them, they’ve been helping me out, all the older guys, Zak DeOssie.”What kind of advice did the veteran dads have for Shepard? Shepard said, “Just advice. From breast feeding to having to be up and helping the wife out when you get home, you don’t really know what she’s going through throughout the day so when you get home, help her out a bit so she can have some time to herself and things like that.”No, big game experience doesn’t help Finally, Shepard confirmed that the pressure of playing in a big game doesn’t have anything on the birth of your daughter. “It was a little bit more intense,” Shepard said. “You kind of have an idea of what you’re going into on game day. There, you have no idea what’s going to happen or what could happen, so the nerves are kicking a little bit more. Like I said, I was on the side of the bed with her the whole time, I even caught myself pushing when the doctor was saying, ‘Push!’ and she was like, ‘What are you pushing for?’, but I was helping her out and she did a great job.”I think I can speak for everyone when I say: Congrats, Sterling!Giants-Jets halftime score: Giants lead 19-13 as Eli Manning looks sharp The first half of the New York Giants’ third preseason game against the New York Jets was a roller coaster for the Giants. The game started on a rough note as Sam Darnold and the Jets’ offense drove the field on the Giants’ starting defense http://www.giantscheapshops.com/cheap-a ... ley-jersey , largely moving the ball at will en route to a touchdown. When the Giants got the ball for their first possession they showed some promise, but the running game simply spun its wheels and the defense was soon back on the field. This time the result was much better, with the Giant’s defense quickly forcing the Jets backwards and getting a quick three and out. Hunter Sharp then got the Giants on the board with a great 55-yard punt return for a touchdown. It was an exciting play and could prove to be the difference in a roster spot for Sharp, but it remains to be seen whether or not it will be enough offset two drives killed by dropped passes by Sharp. The Giants’ defense once again asserted its dominance, getting the ball back for the offense after four plays, including an intentional grounding by Darnold. The Giants capitalized on their momentum with a big play-action bomb from Eli Manning that could have been a walk-in touchdown had the pass not been underthrown. The very next play Jonathan Stewart lost the ball, which the Jets recovered and eventually punched in to the endzone for their second score. The Giants had a second special teams play when Ray-Ray Armstrong, who was on the field with the starting defense as a nickel linebacker, knocked the ball loose on a kick-off return, which was picked up by Jerell Adams. The Giants couldnt’ get the touchdown, but did Aldrick Rosas completed his third field goal to go ahead 16-13. He finished four for four in the first half.Overall, we are seeing a much more aggressive offense than we have become used to seeing from the Giants. Eli Manning consistently attacked downfield, largely placing the ball well and consistently finding open receivers. Manning finished the half going 17 for 23 (73.9 percent), for 188 yards (8.2 yards per attempt). On the defensive side of the ball, Dalvin Tomlinson proved to be a difference maker, consistently stuffing the run and creating havoc in the backfield. Meanwhile, preseason monster Kerry Wynn nearly came up with an interception in the Jets’ 2-minute drill. Evan Engram left the game in the second half and is OUT with a concussion. The Giants will get the ball to start the second half after the Jets chose to receive the opening kickoff.
